Ban the Balance? How Could We Say Work Life Balance Should Be Banned!

by admin on September 9, 2010

It’s out! The e-White Paper—Life Work Balance Strategies for Women Entrepreneurs & Business Owners—is now available free.

The paper is the culmination of the international NewNorma.com survey plus in-depth interviews with successful business women who reported they had achieved the often-elusive ‘balance’.

Should Work Life Balance be banned for women entrepreneurs

Do you agree?

One of the biggest findings led us to call for Banning the Balance! Yes, and that’s despite us being champions of life work balance!

How Words Mess Up Our Lives

We learned that yet again, the words we use interfere with our success in life. For decades many women campaigned for the use of gender neutral words and we found this affected how we saw life. So what should replace this? Read the paper and let us know.

It’s good to discover we are not alone in some of our struggles!

We believe many women will relate to the comments you’ll read in the paper where women have generously and thoughtfully answered questions to help us all in pursuit of improving our lives and those of our families.

You will read different viewpoints on questions as basic as what life work balance means to more complex questions on what is important in life.

You will also find out answers to our questions:  Do business plans help? What difference do the men in your life make?

Motherhood & Guilt

Predictably, family commitments—mainly motherhood—was central to these respondents. As we know, many women start businesses purely to regain some ‘balance’ in their lives.  But is this really possible?  Read the paper to find out what the business women interviewed discovered.

What was more surprising to us—and in retrospect should not have been surprising—was the number of times the word guilt was used by women as really impacting the enjoyment of their lives.

This finding really fired us up. We decided we needed to find a way to help other business women with children who were experiencing guilt. This led to us  to launch  www.GuiltFreeBusinessMothers.com which offers a raft of international experts giving their advice and secrets on  topics fundamental to our success as business mothers, including  relationships, child-rearing and fitness to marketing, planning and other business topics. It’s free so check it out.

Being a mother is the hardest job; being a working mother makes it that much more difficult. I find to balance my life, when I travel for business (I often go to Atlanta), instead of renting hotel rooms I actually look into corporate housing in Atlanta. It creates a more “home” environment for me and my family.
